#POPUPSHIPS
Pop up ships is an art installation that aims to provide a new public space experience in Victria, BC.
THE DESIGN
Whimsical and evocative, the winning design for the Ship Point Pop Up Design Competition in Victoria by Marie-Claude Fares & Peter Carter scales up childhood paper boats to oversized sculptures that draw people to the area, creating a vibrant space for exploring and relaxing.
Designed as benches for lounging, the small boats create personal vessels for sailing away a few minutes or an afternoon in the sun atop the brilliant blue surface. The materiality, size and lighting of the larger beacon invites exploration and play as well as framing views of the Inner Harbour.
